Jordanian Girls

Are back to school!

I actually thought this picture was taken in another country, but the plate on the car is Jordanian. Someone also told me that they have seen the ‘Back to School’ sign elsewhere.

My initial reaction was: WTH? :| I swear clothes are more conservative here in the U.S. Even if they are not, at least their society accepts it as part of their culture. I mean since I came here, I do not remember seeing clothing stores sporting such tasteless, provocative outfits. I look at the picture and imagine a dancing episode in a strip club. My issue is not only with the revealing part; the problem is that the clothes are ugly and tacky and whorish. Knowing that they are being presented to girls who are 16 and under is almost close to a crime. I am not sure if I should blame the girls or the parents. After all, girls at such a sensitive age need as much supervision and guidance as possible. They need attention too, which is why they are wearing such clothes in the first place. I cannot help but think about how fake the whole thing is. It is not us. It is not who we were, who we are, or who we will be.

I really wish people in Jordan would care less about what they can see and more about what they cannot see.

Oh mi god i know where that store is!

CHILLAX people. that sign isn’t for the models clothes, even though it looks like it is.

That store is actually a women’s nightgown/ lingerie store, and they untastefully put all those nighties and “lingerie” or “sexy clothes” in the window display, but i’m sure the SIGN doesn’t mean to point to the below, just means to say that they have back to school garb for little children (who are grouped with a maternal store such as this for some reason).

I know this store. trust me that is their idea of a lingerie window display, not targeting back to school kids.

No one dresses like that in Amman anyway, and yet this store is selling and successful, so who’s buying that shit?

    :D

  6. i was gona say what em said, thats def lingerie mish ma3′ool ykoon targeting students .. ino we’ve all been to jordan its common sense ya3ni

  7. well the Idea is even underwear and lingerie must Ad’s for

    Back to school

even still wonder why a Teen girl will care about such stuff :D when she back to school :D

    he3 he3 al balad 5arbaneh :D

  8. Okay … So maybe this is not about Back to School, but it still is targeted towards young girls who are barely teenagers. I know many people in Jordan who tell me that girls around 13-15 wear this kind of clothes and parade their bodies. Unfortunately, they are too young to realize what it means. Please do not even attempt to convince me that this is lingerie, this is outdoor clothing.

  9. i get what you’re saying … the funny part though is when you ask them why are they even choosing those kinda clothes, they’d say well, this is what we could find in fashion stores ! and now i kinda see what they’re talkin about .. it’s almost the same here in Saudi but you know only in female gatherings :)

  11. Errant: It does not change my mind about the inappropriateness of this whole thing.

Wa7deh Arfaneh: Uhm, I suggest you change your name to Wa7deh Mo2refeh. You also should get lessons in communication and speaking in public. Anyway, only people who are stupid think that the key to civilization is showing more skin.

Hala the key to civilization is respecting others freedom of choice either as jelbab or as revealing skin!

  13. I do respect other people’s freedom of choice. However, since when is such scenes okay in the Arab world? Also, the above is being marketed to teenagers who really care about nothing at this sensitive age except for looking cool and luring guys. So please, spare me your twisted logic.
