Do ethics compel people to follow the law, or does following the law make people ethical?

Feedback appreciated! :)

Ethics are detterants for things that are not punishable by the law. You can be unethical and yet not be punished. But there are also laws in some parts of the world that are unethical.

Law & Ethics are two different things but getting used to obey them makes them the same.

I agree with both comments above, ethics are unwritten “laws” in the behavioural meaning of the term, respect for authority through obaying laws is an ethical behavour, but ethics and laws are two different spheres, one might influence the other but they’re not interdependent.

you are asking two different questions infact soul blossom.

Ethics come from priciples, principles come from beliefs, and that’s your religion.

Law is a human made, not always write. with the ethics you hold inside, you’ll not allow your self to violate the law.

    Ethics is deeper.
