Elissa in a Haifa Wahbi Outfit
I was browsing YouTube when I saw an old clip of Elissa dancing tango on a talk show. I think it dates back to 2002. As far as I remember, the show was called (Ya Omri يا عمري) and the presenters were really cute and fun.
When I first saw it, the first thought that came to my mind was: “Wow, that is such a Haifa outfit!”
I do not like Haifa, but …
I like Elissa, she is one of my favorite singers. I think she has a good voice and she enjoys singing. She performs passionately and it shows. She is now considered one of the most classy artists. However, Elissa has come a long way. Looking at her then in that hideous outfit, and looking at her now dressing gracefully, I have to give it to her. Image is important. And in 2008, you are what you are wearing. Today, unlike Haifa, Elissa would NEVER wear such a tacky (Or Insert R-rated word) outfit. I mean look at her bare belly button and the skirt that uncovers her upper thighs. Now, Elissa would show some cleavage but her tummy is always tucked in and her skirts are all conservative that do not show anything above the knees. She would NEVER wear too much makeup, and she would NEVER let men drool all over her while gathering around her feet like shameless puppies. Elissa has changed a lot because she learned a lot. After all, life is nothing but a mixture of experiences. Elissa almost forces people who are around her to respect her, and well, I know I do.
I forgive Elissa for wearing that outfit only because every newbie gets to make an honest mistake and not be judged upon it
Just like Ragheb Alameh now would never switch between Lebanese and Egyptian dialects in one song. Ahhh, the days when they were innocent and when music was not yet rotten …
For people who think it is all about the looks; it is not. Elissa is known for her charisma. Even though she has always been releasing one album every two years, it is not a losing situation for her because people keep listening to her old songs until she relases new ones. She simply is successful, and I do not believe that anyone can maintain success. Anyone can reach it, and the examples are plenty, (Ruby?), but only the smart consider longevity in a career - regardless of what type of career it is, and only the talented keep it up.

I don’t like her because she wasn’t nice to my young cousins in their uncle’s wedding.
he’s awesome
I do love Ragheb though
I agree with you Hala on the last part , Elissa is very talented and I think her songs are similar to Fadel Shaker and Marwan Khoury that’s why I like her songs
Qwaider: I honestly cannot tell, but I think people expect celebrities to be perfect. Yet they are human just like us. Ragheb Alameh has some of the greatest hits but I think he is a SHOW OFF
Luna: Exactly
yeh elissa is cool..she is a good singer with a good voice..but i despise haifa..OMG why why why is she still allowed to sing..she should just go to porn videos where she belongs..
oh boy she is fat! lol!
i hate em both! both! but elissa has some cool songs!
Sam: I know, I hate her too. I just feel embarrassed to watch her on TV and I am a girl for God’s sake! Poor guys, how are they handling this? She is absolutely inappropriate, and I would never ever let my little brother watch such crap. And to think she is almost 40 and has a kid. I think parents should be aware of how even music channels have become poisonous.
Maher: Yes she lost weight, she is a determined lady
Are we seriously talking about Elissa here? lool… shes came a long way? she sound like a train trying to break about to hit a trespassing car when she isnt singing (very ungraceful). I think Nancy pulls off fakeness better cause thats all they are.
Actually, I like both Elissa and Nancy Ajram. I think they have nice voices. Keep in mind we are talking about what I would call normal singers, not amazing voices.
We all have different tastes, so we cannot agree on everything hehehe.
I don’t think her outfit is *that* bad. Not too conservative, but not horrible either.
Elissa has an okay voice. Thing is, I find it hard to listen to her sometimes because it feels like she struggles to get her voice out. I run out of breath just listening to her sometimes. But she’s definitely a more admirable singer than Haifa or Ruby or any of their ilk. I like Nancy Ajram too.
Actually I don’t think her outfit is that bad. It’s definitely quite different than the way she dresses now, but it’s not terrible. Then again, I’ve been exposed to a lot of rap and hip-hop videos, so you’ve gotta be wearing body-tight, next-to-nothing clothing to be considered over the top. Still, I’m glad she changed.
It’s not that Elissa learned new things or so, it’s just that she was new at that time and as we learned; in the Arab world media market when you are new girl and you want to be known in a short time you should do what elissa used to do when she was at her kick off, just look at nancy ajram, when she was “normal” and wearing normal things long time ago she didn’t get that much of acceptance or media attention, so after some years she came with a5smak ah and added some kind of species to her clothes, personality and songs to attract people and the media. Nowadays elissa aand nancy don’t have to wear anything like what you have showed us in your clip, why ? Simply because they are already known and famous now, and they attracted many people, and so somehow people likes elissa’s and nancy’s songs cause they have a nice voice. with haifa’s case it’s a different story because she doesn’t have a good voice or anything close to a singer’s voice so the poor lady has to keep selling her voice with some sexy outfits.
usually i don’t comment with long replies on old topics but I am trying to sleep and I can’t study cause now because am too msatel so ha ana tha.
