Sometimes, the only reason that stops you from being mad at someone is feeling sorry for them.
Today’s dose of wisdom

Fairouz is my favorite singer ever. She is number one on my list. In fact, there is no list when it comes to her. She IS the list!
I fell in love with Fairouz when I was a little girl. I used to listen to her on TV or on the radio or in the car since my mom is in love with her as well.
Fairouz has an angelic voice and a very respectful aura that forces you to admire her. She is one of a kind; I barely remember seeing her on any TV shows or reading about interviews with her in magazines. Yet everyone knows her and everyone thinks of her as a representative of music in the Arab world.
You know, life is unfair. How come we get Haifa and Maria and Dana? I am so jealous of the older generations.
One of my dreams is to actually attend one of her concerts. Even though it seems somewhat impossible, but one can only wish.
Some of my favorites:
I was browsing when I bumped into a video that I loved and thought about sharing with you all. It is an episode taken from a show called هيك تجوزنا or How We Got Married.
It is funny yet sad, and sarcastic yet painful. But most importantly, it is real. It is our reality, and we have been forced to live it and continue to be so. I love Lebanon, and I have always related to what went on there.
The song in the beginning of the episode is very nice, I was wondering if anyone knows or has it.
Watch below (Four Parts):
As I read the following article, I was already in a few discussions with friends about it.
What prevents us from doing wrong/bad things? I thought that the two main reasons are Religion (Morals) and Principles (Ethics). The aforementioned are sets of behavioral rules that have religious and social elements, and therefore, are adopted by people. They define how people act, and whether their actions are right or wrong/good or bad. In my opinion, everything revolves around religion and principles as they govern our lives. People have one, both, or none.
- Let us talk about religion first. Religions are about right and wrong. Before religions were created, people lived in ignorance. After religions came into existence, they taught us about moral obligations that we should conform to. Morals guide us and give us a path to follow. A person knows that there is no picking and choosing when it comes to religion, but rather a standard of right behavior that we must abide by. Of course, different cultures have different ideas of morality. According to my religion for example, helping people who are in need is a must if one can afford to, lying is unacceptable … etc. So, when my religion tells me that dancing topless is wrong because it exposes my body that I am supposed to protect, then it is enough reason for me to not do it!
- Second, we talk about principles. Principles are about good and bad. Contrary to religion, people have the freedom to decide what principles they want to have as a guiding philosophy. People have different principles because they are the ones who create them. However, I think that principles in general have slight differences only and not significant ones. Since personal thinking determines one’s ethics, they are flexible and are also subject to change. Many people do change their sets of ethics every now and then to fit their lifestyles. For example, I believe in being faithful to my spouse even if my religion did not mention it.Why? Because I feel that it is a good thing that will save me trouble, while being unfaithful can cost me a beloved one I love and care about. These are ethics that make me feel happy and smart about my decisions.
My friends were giving me reasons such as ’selling your body for money is low’ or ‘the way you have been raised defines how you act.’ However, I think that those reasons stem from religion and principles. Many acts such as consuming alcohol or having sex or even crime are tempting to human beings who are curious by nature. Adam and Eve were sent down to Earth because it is in our instinct to act based on our desires. So, selling my body for money is low and that is a principle of mine, the way I have been raised relied on both religion and principles.
If you can come up with other reasons, then please feel free to add.

Do you believe in horoscopes?
Religiously, I know for a fact that we should not believe them. I particularly do not believe the overdose of future-predicting that newspapers and magazines publish daily/weekly/monthly. However, there are general traits and common qualities that are shared by people from the same zodiac sign. For example, they say Geminis are moody, Librans are idealistic, Scorpions are mysterious … etc. I happen to know many people, me included, who somehow fit in the categories that are defined by astrology.
Just wondering, I do not know where I stand here! I am a Scorpio by the way.

I would like to shed some light on forgiveness because it is such a broad topic; however, we often take it for granted.
We go through a lot on a daily basis. We make mistakes, we have arguments, we say uncalled for statements, we hurt others, we act selfishly … etc. I think you get my point. Yet being able to forgive is important. In fact, it is crucial. And when I say forgive, I mean actual forgiving that comes from within.
I have had my share of unpleasant experiences. Even though people learn from their own experiences, it is not enough to simply learn the practical lesson and stop there. Life should not be viewed rigidly. I think many people tend to forget about the humane part of them considering the lifestyle we are living, which lacks intimacy and closeness in relations between people.
I am writing this post today, and in my mind are images of literally hundreds of people who were mistreated by me ever since I became an adult who is responsible for her words and actions. I know that ‘hundreds’ sounds like a lot, but note that I am counting for multiple years of a person’s adult life, both intentional and unintentional, small and big mistakes. I am not, in any way, implying that I am a bad person. I am simply owning up to things. Some mistakes are more harmful than others, and accordingly, they have lesser or greater effects on people.
The point is: In a moment of anger, common sense goes out the window. And we are left with the damage that should be fixed by none but ourselves. It takes guts to admit to your mistakes since people like to think of themselves as good and even above others. Still, taking a moment to look back and think twice does not hurt. I wish I could apologize for doing wrong to people, but sometimes realizations come too late. So my next goal is to improve my moral character, let go of the bitterness, and not hold grudges. I am a person who finds it extremely hard to forget a bad memory when someone has hurt my feelings, but I also believe that people are good by nature and therefore, they deserve second chances.
Put yourself in other people’s shoes, you never know when you make someone’s day up with a simple gesture. After all, you are the one who benefits the most from having a clear conscience and a heart empty of worries.
Futurama is my ultimate favorite cartoon, and Bender; a character on it, is my ultimate favorite character. Unlike other shows, Furturama is creative, unique, and funny. I used to prefer watching things like Family Guy. Yet with every new season of Family Guy, it feels like it is getting more boring and repetitive. Not to mention that I find many of the scenes tasteless. With Furturama, you get to be entertained and it is more than just a fun thing to watch, it sometimes gets deep and depicts emotions in a classy way. Many of the events make you feel attached to the show such as Fry being in love with Leela. It can be better than real acting, lol.

I was first introduced to the show back in 2003. My brother discovered it earlier and was a regular follower. In the beginning, I thought it was absolutely creepy; people are in the year 3000 and they look strange and have only 4 fingers and 4 toes, robots act just like human beings, there is life on Mars … etc.
When I think about it now, I feel that I was narrow minded and unable to accept new ideas. As I watched a few more episodes out of curiosity, I liked how things are done in their time. I started to wonder how Earth will actually be in 3000. In the show, the people went back and forth to space. They built an amusement park on the moon. They had tubes for transportation that would quickly push someone through to reach his/her destination in seconds. They even had ’special’ pay phones where instead of making a phone call, you put a quarter in and choose a method to die. A suicide booth!
Personally, I think that more should have been done so far. I mean for 2009, it seems that we have not done enough in terms of technology advancement. But who am I to say? I can confidently say though that you must watch the show because you will LOVE it.

Apparently, I am not done blogging. I thought I had nothing more to blog about, but there always will be something, anything, to blog about.
I found out that my mom and even my little brother (In addition to other family) read my blog. It was a nice surprise. They love it, and my mom sees a writer in me and she is proud.
Much more to come, soon.
Hi all,
I will no longer be posting anything on my blog. I think blogging was good while it lasted, but now my blog is haunted and I hate to see it like this. I feel like the juices have run out.
Thanks to everyone who followed, read, and commented. I will still be following your blogs every now and then. That would be all. Thank you and have a good one

On November 21, 2008: A 5-week old female cat whom we have not named yet, but the person who gave her to us had named her Zim. I am not too fond of it though. We now call her Bosays (Brother came up with it)
Any other suggestions?
Many of you know we already have a rabbit, Ramma7. Kitty and Bunny are slowly getting to know each other and they get along sometimes, you know, when she does not scratch him and we he does not sniff aggressively in her face!
